What is a rack cabinet and what is it for?
Rack cabinets are metal structures whose main function is to store devices and technological elements and communication networks in the most optimal way. They are the best place to place your server, routers, telephony, patch panels, etc. And to keep everything completely collected and centralised.
Rack cabinets are also designed to cool their contents and keep them in the best possible conditions, avoiding overheating or unnecessary deterioration.
Get everything you need for the installation of rack cabinets
Rack cabinets are used for both structured cabling and coaxial networking. They can also be used for other purposes such as housing video surveillance recorders. These structures have a pre-set width measurement, commonly 10‘ or 19’.
The height of the cabinets are measured in U (rack units), they are usually 4U, 5U, 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, etc. One element can be inserted into each U. There are elements that occupy several exact U, for example a tray, a socket, a patch panel, router, etc. This standardises the size so that all manufacturers can make elements that can be inserted in any rack cabinet, as well as being able to customise the inside of each rack with what each installation needs.
