This device is an HDMI signal splitter, which can be used in both directions, both as HDMI input and output.

For example, we can use it as 2 HDMI inputs and 1 HDMI output to connect 2 devices like a DVD player and console to one HDMI output of a monitor. We must select which of the two inputs we want to see at the output.

Another example is to use it as 1 HDMI input and 2 HDMI outputs to connect a console or DVD player to 2 HDMI outputs of a monitor or TV (in this case only the signal will be displayed on the selected output 1 or 2). You cannot display both signals at the same time on your outputs.

Its box is metallic in black, it has a button to select the output and it is very small in size.
